Jordan Hasay Withdraws from Garry Bjorklund Half MarathonPublished by
Jordan Hasay Withdraws from Half Marathon with InjuryBy Adam Kopet Jon Nowacki reports for the Duluth News Tribune that Jordan Hasay will not compete in the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon as had been previously announced. The race is held in conjunction with Grandma's Marathon. Injury is to blame for Hasay's withdrawal. Hasay finished third at this year's Boston Marathon in a return to racing after missing both her scheduled marathons in 2018 with injuries. Since her Boston performance in April, Hasay raced the NYRR New York Mini 10K featuring the USATF Women's 10 km Championships. She finished a disappointing 19th in a strong field, running 34:25. Hasay has announced she will run this fall's Chicago Marathon. She ran an impressive 2:20:57 to finish third at the 2017 Chicago Marathon. After this year's Boston performance, Hasay talked about chasing the American record in Chicago this year. The biggest concern is whether Hasay has truly broken the injury cycle that saw her miss what would have been the third and fourth marathons of her career. However, after a year of injury and the resulting return, Hasay is no doubt careful with the aches and pains she feels as she prepares herself for Chicago. |
